Marlo Hartsuyker joined the Ventura County office of Education in 2017 as the Director of Charter School Support and Oversight. In this capacity, Ms. Hartsuyker directly oversees the five VCOE sponsored charter schools and provides support to the other seven Ventura County charter schools and their sponsoring districts. Her oversight responsibilities include monitoring fiscal operations, assessing educational program performance, overseeing school operations and school board governance. In addition, Ms. Hartsuyker is also a resource for Ventura County families with questions about their educational options.
In 2009, Ms. Hartsuyker was the Lead Petitioner and co-founder of the MATES Charter School in Thousand Oaks. Also, Ms. Hartsuyker has been licensed as an attorney with the CA State Bar since 1995. Ms. Hartsuyker’s background as a practicing attorney provides valuable insight and familiarity with the laws and regulations that apply to charter schools.
